YWAM Update, March 1, 2023
Hi friends and family, I hope you have all been doing well!
This is an update letter about what I’ve been doing and preparing for these past 2 months.
I’ll be sharing a little bit of what lecture phase has looked like, what I know about my outreach locations, and what I’ll be doing while I’m there!
I’ve been learning a lot about God, how I can teach others about him, and what it looks like to do missionary work!
We only have 3 more weeks of lecture phase until outreach, which if you didn’t know already I will be going to Cambodia!!! So I’m very excited and can’t wait to tell you all about how outreach went when I get back!
Lecture Phase:
These past 9 weeks have been some of the best weeks of my life! I’ve learned a lot about God’s characteristics, had really great in depth teachings on different books in the bible, grown in who I am as a woman/child of God, and went on a mini outreach to Missoula to evangelize and help out with practical needs for a refugee homing organization.
One of my biggest takeaways since being here, and what I continue to grow in every week, is trusting in God.
For me it’s looked like trusting Him with my worries about the future, doubts about who I am and what others think of me, opening up to my DTS family about my past struggles and even current ones, and trusting that no matter where I end up… As long as God is the one leading me, life is gonna be great!
Dance Elective:
I’ve been learning what to expect when teaching dance in Cambodia and how to prepare for that and learned two dances that we will be able to use on outreach!
Also, this upcoming week, my dance elective and I will have the opportunity to go dance at a Christian home for adults with developmental disabilities, teach them a dance, and just talk with them!
It’s going to be great and I’m looking forward to it!
Cambodia:
9 DTS students (including myself), and 2 outreach leaders are preparing for a total of 8 weeks in Cambodia!
We currently have 2 of our locations planned for, which will be in Battambang and Phnom Penh.
We will be working with the YWAM bases there and will also have the opportunity to work with an organization that brings young women out of sex-trafficking and teaches them practical skills.
This is currently all I know about our outreach to Cambodia, however we will have opportunities to teach from our individual skill sets, such as dance, music, sports, cooking/baking, and more practical skills as well.
I’m very grateful I even have this opportunity to go to Cambodia and make an impact in people’s lives, no matter how small.
Going through the lecture phase has grown me so much and helped me to prepare (as much as I can) for a 2 month outreach to spread God’s hope and love and teach practical and creative skills! God is going to do some amazing things through us and it makes me so excited!
Thank you so much for your prayers and support! It has meant so much and I’m really grateful to you!
Feel free to message or call me! I may not always be available, but I’d love to talk with you if you want more details of what God’s been doing or just want to check in.
I love you and hope you have a beautiful day!
